The interplay between music and poetry creates the chance for multiple conversations to take place. The Circuit brings this interchange between two art forms in an evening meant to engage and delight an audience desiring to see something new, something different. The Circuit is a travelling tour of musicians and poets discussing through their art form a certain theme, thought or an idea they want to share with the audience. The Circuit travels from Kingston to Elgin and Brockville. It runs three Wednesdays at three different venues over the winter with hopes of additional venues added in the summer.
The Circuit begins in February on the second Wednesday of the month, at the Queen’s Grad Club in Kingston with a start time of 7 p.m. The third Wednesday is at the Public Library in Elgin with a start time of 7 p.m.; And the fourth Wednesday of the month, again at 7 p.m. takes place at From Here to Infinity Gallery in Brockville. The first half opens with the host delivering a brief introduction. There is an open mic portion in which the audience signs up ahead of time and therefore can take part expressing their thoughts, feelings and ideas related to the theme then a 10 minute break followed by two Circuit artists presenting the main theme. The Circuit concludes it year in November.
